Funny of the Day- Real Men
I admit that I am new to this blogging thing and scheduling blogs didn't work out as I thought. I have survived the craziness before Thanksgiving, my wonderful Thanksgiving, and the craziness after. I hope all of your holidays are going well. Here is one of my favorite Funny of the Day stories.

Introductions to Funny of the Day Video
I have found that my desire to make everything right is hindering me sharing the stories and messages I would like. It finally occurred to me that the blogs I like to follow actually use videos. I have decided to do the same to help me get my funny stories out to you faster. They sure are adding up.

Funny of the day- Spirit Lady
I was shopping at a store and saw a pretty headband. It was thick and silky. I was excited to wear it. I wore it to school the next day. Many of my students asked about it throughout the day (a teacher can't change a look without comment).
My favorite was one student. She looked at me and with all seriousness said, "you look like one of those spirits."
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"You know a lady who talks to spirits."
Hahahahaha
Meet my fortune teller look.

What is a Bay? Funny of the Day
A fellow teacher shared with me a good funny. She was teaching a reading lesson and they came across the word bay. Checking vocabulary she asked, "what do you think a bay is?"
Many guesses were made and finally a student said, "is it the name of a lake or water?"
To which the reply of a fellow student in disguised replied in a condescending tone, "no it's the name of a girlfriend."
They may be young, but it is never to late to have a girlfriend.

What Kind of Play Dough is That?- Funny of the Day
For counselor week our wonderful counselor took the students and did activities with them. One of the activities this brave counselor did was make homemade play dough with all of our students. She went through so much flour. I am thankful for a great counselor who is willing to do fun things with the kids.
The funny enters when one of my students comes back with the play dough. My paraeducator told the student to put it in their cubby. My other para asked, "what is that?"
"Sensual play dough," was the innocent reply.
"What?!?"
"Oh I mean sensory, SENSORY,"
It was in front of kids and everything. Luckily they are too innocent to know what was said. You have to love freudian slips.

Funny of the Day
As one of my students was reading to self they were reading out loud. I was working at my table. I look over at the student. She looked right at me and said, "I will lick your face." I started to laugh. She said, "no it's in the book." She turns the book book around and there is a picture of a dog licking a child's face. The rest of the day randomly the phrase, "I will lick your face" ran through my head.

Funny of The Day- Cougar
One of my Paraeducators had on a leopard print shirt. One of my students was wearing zebra striped clothes. We were talking to them about their prints when my other para said you look like a cougar. We all started laughing about my Para the cougar.
This reminded me of a classic funny. An old school district had a High School whose mascot was the cougar. The cheerleaders had a fundraiser and sold t-shirts. One of the t-shirts said cougar across the front all blinged out. An older woman bought one of the t-shirts from her granddaughter. Someone walked into the lunchroom walked in and told her, "wow look you are quite the Cougar." The funniest thing is she had no idea of what was eluded too.
Who knew schools were full of such cougars?

Funny of the Day- Puppy Trouble
One of my students was talking about her weekend. She was talking about a new puppy that her family got. "There was a cute dog. It peed all over. It was marking its territory. It peed all over the flowers. Nothing grew."
This tickled my funny bone.

Funny of the Day- My Water Bottle
I walked into the teacher's lunchroom and heard peels of laughter. I was excited I knew a good funny had happened. The story then came out. A third grade boy came up to his teacher holding a flask, "I couldn't find a water bottle so I brought this." The flask was confiscated and an email sent home.
Curiosity of a group of teachers one out wondering if it really was just water. A coworker held it up to her nose sniffed. The thought occurred to me at that moment wonder if someone walked in. Here is a group of teachers passing around a flask. Good lunch times. (For information sake- it was water.)

Funny of the Day- Which weighs more? Well that depends.
My students were working on weighing things. They were working on heavier and lighter. They got ads from the store and cut out two things and then worked on labeling the one that is heavier and lighter. Student's chose things like marshmallows, bikes, etc. One student decided to cut out underwear. He was completely serious as he completed the activity. So which weighs more? Well that depends on your choice.

Funny of the Day- The Full Moon
I work with students who have disabilities and just that lends itself to funny stories as they try to live in a world of social norms that don't always matter to them. Upon coming in from recess one of my students needed to use the bathroom very badly. He started to pull down his pants right when he hit the door and went 20 ft down the hall exposing himself as he ran to the bathroom. A great coworker of mine saw him in the hall she told him to pull up his pants. He looked at her and told her no as he continued down the hall she was completely speechless. Upon retelling me the story she said, "I have never seen anything like it in 40 years. I am not left speechless very often. My first thought was to look around and see if I needed to cover anyone's eyes."
I love the reaction and just imagining her covering student's eyes.

Funny of The Day- Math and Creepy Dolls
My students do a math center called math writing. In this center students do a math problem and write about it. This is work that one of my students produced.
The dolls are creepy.

Funny of The Day- Broken Scissors
I had a high school helper in my classroom working with a student. The student was doing a file folder game and wanted the pieces cut out (they were just in boxes). The high school helper obliged the request, but was working too slow for my student's liking.
My student said to me- "We need new scissors these are broken."
Me- "What's wrong with them?"
Student- "They are working too slow."
I told her it was an operator error and not a scissor error.

Funny of the Day- Turtle Jacking a Turtle
I love the conversation that you find yourself in as a teacher-
Student- "Is it bad to turtle jack a turtle?"
Me- "What do you mean?"
Student- "Is it bad to take a turtle and play with it. You know like on the playground?"
Me- "Are there turtles down there?"
Student- "Well not exactly. You see we went into the woods. It is really easy to get past (the recess person) all you have to do is wait until his back is turned. Some friends and I went down the path and we found a turtle. We were running back and my friend grabbed the turtle. He turtle jacked the turtle. Is that bad?"

Funny of the Day- I'm just playing my drums.
I love when people tell me their funnies. I think how someone tells a funny experience can be almost as funny as the experience. One of my old paraeducator told me of a funny experience that happened to her. She was in P.E. and she was talking to someone. A student walked up to her and started hitting her on her breasts and singing. She pulled away and asked the student what the student was doing to which the reply was that the student was playing their drums. My favorite part comes when my para is retelling the story and says, "mine aren't even that big!"

Funny of the Day- This is somewhat embarrassing.
I attended a conference recently. It always amazes me how teachers can be the worse students (myself included). We got off task many times throughout the conference, but the best happened when we were looking for a specific page. One of my fellow attendees showed this to me. It had so many of us giggling. I think the person who programed this and I could be friends. I love their sense of humor.
This is somewhat embarrassing, isn't it?
It seems we can't find what you're looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

Funny of the Day- Perplexed
While working with students on a game called perplexed in which students would use problem solving to come up with answers a friend asked the question, "What is liquid that you can't drink?"
The following conversation ensued.
Student, "I can't say."
Teacher- continuing to prob thinking the student couldn't recall the word asked questions to which the response was....
Student, "it's brown."
Teacher, " what other clues can you give me?"
Student, "it starts with a 'B.'"
Teacher, "can you tell me any other letters?"
Student, "B-E-E-R."
Teacher, "can you think of any that are more school appropriate?"
They settled on soap.
This brought a smile. Do you have any funnies I would love to hear them.

Funny of the Day- Do you have a rainbow fish?
A wonderful friend was working with her students on social skills. She decided to use the game go fish to help her students gain skills such as turn taking, asking nicely, working together, etc. She stepped back to let the students work independently. All was going very smooth until she heard, "I do not have any rainbow fish! Quit asking me that!" Being shouted.
One of the students had asked her partner every turn, "do you have any rainbow fish?"
Finally in exasperation he yelled. My friend just listened to make sure they were doing well. The student finally drew a rainbow fish match, but she then drew a rainbow fish out of the pile. So her next question was, "do you have any rainbow fish?"
This question did not go well with the exasperated student.

Funny of the Day- Super Hero Picture Story
Our school's theme for our positive behavior system is super heroes. I chose to have this as a classroom theme. My students had their pictures taken for something else, but I saw these pictures and knew my students needed to use them for picture stories. This was so great. I love the ideas in this story. My student generated these on his own. It makes me smile.
Story-
My dad is a super hero. He saves people from falling like (student's name). I am a super hero. My mom is a super hero. My bro is not he just watches t.v. while I save people.
